Sayh al Uhaymir 001 (SaU 001) is a classic meteorite from Oman. It was discovered in 2000 and many kilos were collected until the Omani government banned meteorite prospection. SaU 001 is classified as an L5 chondrite, indicating presence of chondrules and a low content of iron. This whole individual specimen exhibits a well conserved fusion crust, the darker layer of material on the outside of the meteorite generated by the heat and pressure on its descent.
