Description

Official report entitled "The Geologic Investigation of the Taurus-Littrow Valley: Apollo 17 Landing Site (Geological Survey Professional Paper 1080)," prepared on behalf of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, 9 x 11.25, 279 pages plus nine oversized folding plates, published by the Government Printing Office in 1981. This paper synthesizes the results of the Apollo 17 mission, which landed astronauts Gene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt in the moon's Taurus-Littrow Valley, where they collected about 120 kg of lunar rock and soil samples, took over 2,200 photographs, and made numerous direct geologic observations. A foundational reference for lunar geology, the report is organized chronologically, covering pre-mission geological interpretation, field and sample data, and post-mission geologic synthesis. In very good to fine condition, with sunning and chipping to the report cover and heavy wear and a broken/taped spine to the stiff outer cover.
