Postmaster general, secretary of war, and secretary of state under George Washington (1745–1829). Third-person ADS, one page, 7.75 x 4.25, January 5, 1784. Revolutionary War-era receipt for the army's purchase of forage, penned by Pickering and incorporating his signature within the text. In part: "No. 42, Newburgh, January 5, 1784, Rec'd of Timothy Pickering QMG & D. Wolfe forty dollars in full for forage rations from the first day of March 1783 to the 8th June 1783 inclusive." In fine condition. Encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA as "MINT 9."
