Four production hand-painted 12-field color model cels for limited edition cels released by Turner Home Entertainment, which feature beloved MGM cartoon characters Tom and Jerry and Droopy. The lot includes three Tom and Jerry color model cels, two of which are sports-themed and show the characters playing golf and tennis, and the third, which is entitled ‘The Great Chase,’ depicts Tom running after Jerry on the beach. The latter cel includes its beautiful hand-painted key master production background, which measures 15 x 10, and an original matching production drawing, accomplished in graphite and colored pencil on a 12.25 x 9.75 sheet of animation paper marked “12F” and annotated along the top, “Revised Layout #1 with changes per your comments.” The total character image for the other two Tom and Jerry cels are 12.25 x 8 (tennis) and 10 x 7.75 (golf), with the latter bearing a 1991 Turner Home Entertainment seal. The Droopy cel, entitled ‘The Zen of Tennis,’ shows the lethargic ite Basset Hound reading an instructional book and nonchalantly returning a serve, with the total character image measuring 12 x 9.5.
