The Beatles Yesterday and Today mono 'third state' butcher cover (Capitol T-2553, 1966). This 'third state' version features the 'butcher' cover, the previously affixed 'trunk' cover pasteover having been peeled from the album jacket to reveal the butcher cover underneath. In good condition, with scattered surface loss from the peeling process, splitting to top and bottom edges, edgewear and light soiling.
Within days of releasing this miscellany of previous hits, Capitol recalled all copies in response to retailers' negative reactions to the original macabre cover image. The recalled copies were 'retrofitted' with a new pictorial flat, pasted over the first, featuring an innocuous image of the boys posed around a steamer trunk; these have frequently been peeled away by collectors to reveal the infamous butcher image below. Stereo covers are much rarer than the mono versions as they were produced in far fewer quantities.
Additionally includes four other Beatles records: Meet the Beatles! (T-2047); A Hard Day's Night (UAL-3366); Rubber Soul (T-2442); and Magical Mystery Tour (SMAL-2835), in good to very good condition. All five records are included.
