Description

Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver, serial #324698, .31 caliber, 4" barrel with a good bore that has dark pitting within the grooves. This is an 1870-made, six-shot variant revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, trigger guard, backstrap, and arbor, and no visible numbers on the wedge or loading lever. The barrel, frame, and cylinder have a dark, plum-brown patina throughout, with thin gray fading along the high edges and projections, as well as some mild pitting scattered throughout. Traces of the cylinder scene remain visible on the cylinder, and one of the nipples is no longer present. The brass trigger guard and backstrap have been cleaned to a pale yellow-ochre patina, with some dark traces of original silver remaining on protected areas of the trigger guard bow, and the walnut grip is in good shape with minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about the old varnish. The action is partially functional, with the hammer catching firmly at half and full-cock, but the cylinder no longer advances. This is a fair post-Civil War ‘49 Pocket overall.

This is an antique firearm and transfers with no federal restriction.
