Attractive South African Olympic Team badge issued for the Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics, representing one of the key National Olympic Committee badges of the 1930s. At 19 gm, 38 mm x 46 mm, it is comprised of a bronze-tone shield with a green enamel front bearing a leaping springbok and colorful Olympic rings between upper and lower text: "South African Olympic Team" and "Berlin 1936." The reverse bears the Berlin maker’s mark of "E. Gutenkunst."
