Highly appealing collection of 16 badges issued for the Cortina 1956 Winter Olympics, ranging in size from 32 mm in diameter to 32 mm x 57 mm, all featuring the enameled snowflake design of the 1956 Winter Olympics logo, with the majority marked in gold for the respective participant or organization: “Aiutante (Coach/Trainer),” “Assistente (Assistant),” “Atleta (Athlete),” “Capo Missione (Head of Mission),” “CIO (International Olympic Committee),” “CNO (National Olympic Committee),” “Comitato Organizzatore (Olympic Organizing Committee),” “Foto - Film (Photo - Film),” “FSI (International Sports Federations),” Servizio (Service),” “Stampa (Press),” “Ufficiale (Official),” and “Ufficiale di Gara (Race Official).” Also included is a shield badge with a gray background, which indicates that it is a guest badge; a gold-plated badge without a shield; and a circular badge with a white enamel snowflake interior and a small gold star above multicolored Olympic rings. All but one are marked on the reverse, “C. O. N. I., Mod. Depositato, Stabilimenti Artistici Fiorentini.” The reverse of the circular badge is marked “Bertoni, Milano.” In overall fine condition.
