(Nickelodeon, 1999) Original production cel of SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary the Snail from ‘Jellyfish Jam,’ episode 7b from the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, which originally aired on August 28, 1999. The cel, which shows Spongebob wearing a robe with Gary the Snail on his head, is placed on a marvelous master production background of the ocean floor with rocks, anemone, and a large anchor. The character image measures 3.5 x 5, with overall dimensions of 13.5 x 10.75. The cel is marked “SB,” and the background is marked as “S/B #118, BG 140.” In fine condition. A wonderful cel and background set-up from the acclaimed first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, the show’s only season to use the traditional cel animation process. Production cels and backgrounds from the ‘golden era’ of SpongeBob remain rare and highly collectible.
