American physicist (1909–1997) who served as Oppenheimer's hand-picked successor as director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1945 to 1970; he was in charge of the final assembly of 'the Gadget,' detonated in the 'Trinity' test of July 16, 1945, as the first-ever detonation of a nuclear weapon. Booklet entitled "Trinity Site: The First Atomic Test," 12 pages, 5.5 x 8.5, published circa 1990s, signed on the first page—depicting the Trinity device—in black felt tip, "This seems a long time ago! N. E. Bradbury." In fine condition.
