The scarf approximately measures 70˝ in length, features tassled ends, and is covered with 18 rows of faux diamonds that run the scarf’s full length. From the collection of Marylou Badeaux, a former employee at Warner Bros. Records who spent 25 years in the R&B and jazz departments working with legendary figures like Prince and Larry Graham. Badeaux on her time with Graham and how she obtained the scarf: ‘[Graham] first played ‘One in a Million You’ to me at the Universal City Hotel in Los Angeles. He had just recorded it. I was blown away and told him it would go #1 (part of my duties at that time was the liaison with the various magazines such as Billboard and their chart managers, so when it went #1 I was especially happy to be a big part of the ‘behind the scenes’ work). At the time, when he toured, he wore a scarf identical to the one in the picture. Of course, he had several in his touring kit. I had commented on how much I loved the scarf on him. A few months later, he gave me this one (never worn) for Christmas with the embroidered name.’
