Description

Second-generation color 8mm film reel containing a copy of the iconic motion picture sequence shot by Abraham Zapruder with a Bell & Howell home-movie camera, as United States President John F. Kennedy's motorcade passed through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. Zapruder's film is regarded as the most complete footage of the Kennedy assassination. Housed in its original box, erroneously marked "1st Generation," denoting it as an original copy. In very good to fine condition.

The consignor reports: "I was always told this film was a first generation copy of the original film and my mother's handwriting is visible on the box in which the film has been kept. My mother, Rita Musgrove, was friends with Roger Craig, a Dallas police officer/sheriff's officer who witnessed the assassination, as well as Penn Jones who is a well-known conspiracy theorist of the assassination. Although much of the material and documentation that she obtained regarding the assassination from various people has been lost, it is my understanding that she received this copy of the Zapruder film directly from Penn Jones."
