American artist (born 1959) with ties to both the Pop Art and Outsider Art movements, whose paintings incorporate the use of silkscreen or serigraphy on various mediums including wood, canvas, and paper. Beautiful original color 15 x 20 multi-layered silkscreen painting by pop artist Peter Mars entitled ‘Sense of Power,’ presented as part of his wonderful ‘Alice’s Adventures’ series, created from images made from John Tenniel’s original plates and crafted by hand-pulling acrylic paints through original 1900s redwood silkscreen frames and placed on heavyweight archival paper, signed in the lower right corner in blue artist pencil by Mars. The image, which depicts Alice with cards flying over her and animals at her feet, can be found on page 188 in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The reverse bears two artist stamps and is signed again by Mars, who adds the name of his studio, “Kitty Joe’s Castle, Sedona.” In fine condition.
