Diploma awarded to Edgar Mitchell by the United States Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School, one page, 11.75 x 9, May 12, 1966, signed in fountain pen by Commandant Chuck Yeager and countersigned by Commander Hugh B. Manson. In full: "Lt. Cmdr. Edgar D. Mitchell is hereby awarded this diploma after having successfully completed the Aerospace Research Pilot Course, in the flight testing techniques and engineering principles involved in manned space flight, as prescribed by Headquarters U.S.A.F." Framed to an overall size of 12.75 x 9.75. In fine condition.
From 1965 to 1966, Mitchell attended the U.S. Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base for certification as a test pilot, graduating first in his class. In 1966, he was selected in 1966 as part of NASA's fifth astronaut group.
Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Karlyn Mitchell, the daughter of Edgar Mitchell.
