Rivet-bound manual produced by the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation entitled “NASA Project Gemini Familiarization Manual, Long Range and Modified Configurations,” identified as report “SEDR 300, Volume I,” copy number “584,” dated March 15, 1964, roughly one year before the launch of Gemini 3, the program’s first crewed flight. The manual, approximately 320 pages, 8.75 x 11, contains twelve sections: Spacecraft Mission, Major Structural Assemblies, Cabin Interior Arrangement, Sequence System, Electrical Power System, Environmental Control System, Cooling System, Guidance and Control Systems, Communication Systems, Instrumentation and Recording System, Pyrotechnics and Retrograde Rocker, and Landing System. The foreword, in full: “The purpose of this manual is to present, clearly and concisely, the description and operation of the Gemini spacecraft systems and major components. The primary usages of the manual are as a familiarization—indoctrination aid, and as a ready reference for detailed information on a specific system or component. The manual is sectionalized by spacecraft systems or major assemblies. Each section is as complete as is practical to minimize the necessity for cross referencing. The information contained in this manual is applicable to a modified spacecraft, three orbit mission only, and is accurate as of 15 March 1964. Subsequent issues will reflect design changes and additional configurations as required.” In fine condition.
