Description

Deke Slayton’s ring-bound “Joint Crew Activities Plan” for the Space Race-ending Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the front cover of which is marked in another hand, “Slayton, IAS.” The manual, printed in Cyrillic, 51 pages, 8 x10.5, dated May 16, 1974 (reissue No. 2), contains the following sections: Introduction, Agreements, Abbreviations and Definitions, Flight Segment Before Approach, and an extended “Joint Flight Segment,” with adjacent pages showing mission schedules for the “Apollo Detailed Crewed Activities Plan” and the “Union Detailed Crewed Activities Plan.” The introduction reads (translated): “The purpose of this document is to define a detailed and general sequence of operations to be performed by the crews of the USSR and the USA during the joint phase of the Apollo-Soyuz experimental flight.” Interior pages bear some pencil notations.
