Description

Two items: a large vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 of West wearing showing off her dazzling rings in an attractive half-length pose, signed and inscribed in white ink, “To Catherine Quinn, Sincerely, Mae West”; and a hardcover later printing book The Constant Sinner, published by the Macaulay Company of New York, signed and inscribed on the first free end page in fountain pen, “To Catherine Quinn, Compliments of the Author, Sincerely, Mae West, I done him wrong in this one too.” In overall very good to fine condition, with light silvering and a bit of clear residue to the photo, and cover soiling and wear to the book covers, as well as a small corner stain to the signed page.

Accompanied by a modern print of a photo showing West with the recipient, Catherine Quinn, as well as a printed photo of a newspaper article from March 4, 1934, with the headline: “Lakewood Girl Meets Mae West on Prize Trip.” The article begins: “Catherine Quinn, the Cleveland girl whose slogan for Mae West in a film fan magazine contest won her first place and a trip to Hollywood, is spending what is probably the most exciting week of her young life among the studios and stars of cinemaland.” The lower section features another image of West with Quinn.
