Scarce original color 23.5 x 31.5 European-version Apple Computer poster for the Macintosh computer, which prominently features Tom Hughes and John Casado’s famous Apple ‘Picasso’ logo. The left and right borders are gray with colorful matching squiggles and lines, the upper left reads “Macintosh,” and the bottom right corner bears the text: “Printed in Belgium.” The Apple logo is found in two corners. Rolled and in fine condition, with some slight edgewear. This Macintosh Picasso poster was produced in Apple France and created by then Art Director Marek Mileck. The American version of this poster doesn't have the whimsical grey borders on the right and left sides.
Although the ‘Picasso’ logo has become synonymous with the Macintosh, credit to the great Spanish artist is a misnomer. Per Casado from an interview with Cult of Mac: ‘The inspiration for the drawing style was Matisse, whom I so admired as an artist. The idea of the graphics being ‘Picasso style’ was, as I remember, a journalist’s description at the time of the launch. I think since no one ever asked me or Tom where the influence came from, it became fact.’
