Description

Commemorative medal from the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle, which played host to that year's Summer Olympics. Bronze, 63 mm, 103 gm, by J. C. Chaplain. The front depicts the head of France in a Phrygian bonnet with the Paris skyline to the right; the reverse features the winged figure of Victory, holding a laurel wreath and a palm branch and carrying a winner on her back, above a cartouche with raised text: “Delmart.” The edge is stamped “Bronze.” Includes its "Exposition Universelle, 1900" cardboard box, with its lid detached but present.
