Description

Three Christmas gifts given by President and Mrs. Truman to White House staff for the years 1947, 1948, and 1949. They include:

(1947) Attractive leather-bound pocket calendar 4.25″ x 2.75″, gilt-stamped on the front with the presidential seal and text, "Merry Christmas from the President and Mrs. Truman, 1947." Inside are three plastic sleeves, one containing a year-long calendar for 1948; the other two are intended to hold identification cards. Brown and Bigelow of St. Paul produced 760 of these pocket gifts.

(1948) Leather bookmark with tasseled ends measuring 1.75 x 11.5, featuring a gilt-stamped presidential seal and the text, “‘I would rather have peace in the world than be President.’ Christmas Greetings from The President and Mrs. Truman, 1948.”

(1949) Uncommon tan leather key holder measuring 3″ x 1.25″, gilt-stamped on one side with, "Christmas Greetings from the President and Mrs. Truman," and featuring the presidential seal and "1949" on the other side. The key holder has two pegs with impressed lettering for "Ignition," "Office," "Home," and "Tire."

In overall fine to very fine condition.
