Broadside printing of "(No. 1895) Décret de la Convention Nationale," one page, 12.5 x 16.25, November 17, 1793. A decree of the French Convention regarding relations with the United States and Switzerland, in part (translated): "The national convention, wanting to manifest in the eyes of all people the principles which govern it, and which must govern the relations of all political societies: wanting at the same time to disconcert the maneuvers used by the enemies of the Republic to make its intentions susceptible to my allies, and particularly the Swiss Cantons and the United States of America, decree…The national convention declares in the name of the French people, that its constant resolution is to be terrible towards its enemies, generous towards its allies, just towards all people…The treaties which bind France to the United States of America and the Cantons will be faithfully executed…The Public Safety Committee is responsible for looking after ways to increasingly strengthen the bonds of alliance and friendship which unite the French Republic with the Swiss Cantons and the United States of America." In fine condition, with scattered creasing and ragged edges.
