Description

Spectacular original color 6 x 9 handbill for Bob Dylan's show at the Norfolk Municipal Auditorium on February 12, 1966, featuring a close-up image of him playing the harmonica, with "Bob Dylan" across the top in blue text. Ticketing information is printed at the bottom in red, with the best seats priced at $4. In fine condition.

This rare flyer dates to the sixth stop of Bob Dylan and the Hawks' (later The Band) famous 1966 tour, which was once voted by Mojo magazine as the greatest tour in rock and roll history. Dylan changed the course of popular music in 1965-66 by retaining his solo-acoustic roots for the first half of each show, and then blowing the audience away with loud, electrified rock in the second, which was often greeted with boos by folk purists. His backing band for the electric half consisted of Robbie Robertson on electric guitar, Rick Danko on bass, Richard Manuel on piano, Garth Hudson on organ, and the little-known Sandy Konikoff on drums (Levon Helm had left the tour months earlier).
