Description

Janis Joplin's personally-owned loose-fitting hippie style woven top with a wide V-neck, featuring pink, brown, and yellow stripes, adorned with braided fringe along the bottom hem and long pink threads dangling at the chest area. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from musician, entrepreneur, and club owner Mickey Deans, in full: "My name is Mickey Deans. For many years I have worked as a Nightclub Manager & Promoter. I am best known for being the last husband of Legend Judy Garland. My whole life I have worked in nightclubs managing & promoting. In the late sixties and early seventies I managed a club in London. Singer Janis Joplin was amazed by all the Rock N Roll memorabilia I had on display in my club and wanted to donate some items for display. This short sleeve multi-color tiel, red, yellow and brown trimmed woven mexican hippie style blouse was one of the items given to me by Janis Joplin herself."

Janis Joplin's fashion sense embodied the free-spirited ethos of the 1960s counterculture movement. Her eclectic style featured vibrant colors, flowing fabrics, and an abundance of accessories, reflecting the bohemian aesthetic of the era. Through her distinctive style, Joplin became an icon of rebellion and individuality.
