Three TLSs signed "J. E. Hoover," totaling four pages, 8 x 10.5, Federal Bureau of Investigation letterhead, dated 1951 to 1958. All are to Mary Ann Colabellla, a stenographer employed by the FBI. The first, in part: "You are hereby offered a probationary appointment in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Department of Justice, as a Stenographer in Grade GS4, with salary at the rate of $2875 per annum…This letter, which should be considered strictly confidential and given no publicity, should be presented when you report for duty." The second letter acknowledges her resignation, and the third summarizes her employment history with the FBI. In overall fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the top edge of the first letter, and a tear to the upper corner of its second page where the staple was removed.
