Description

A Ruby bullet—fired from the gun that shot Lee Harvey Oswald

A bullet shot by the actual .38 caliber Colt Cobra revolver, Serial #2744 LW, used by Jack Ruby to shoot Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, in the basement at Dallas Police Headquarters, along with its spent cartridge case. The bullet and casing, identified as part of the 'Owner's Proof Edition,' are mounted in a display with an engraved plaque, photograph, and certificate of authenticity signed by Anthony V. Pugliese III of the National Historical Mint. The photo is signed by Lee Harvey Oswald escorts Detective Jim Leavelle and L. C. Graves, and Earl Ruby, the brother of Jack Ruby. The framed piece measures 18 x 24. In fine condition.

Accompanied by two certificates of authenticity signed by Earl Ruby, with one also signed by Pugliese. The certificates bear matching text, which reads: “This will certify that this bullet and cartridge case is 1 of 100 authentic .38 special caliber bullets shot from ‘The Most Famous Gun in the World,’ the Jack Ruby .38 Special Colt Cobra bearing serial no. 2744, on November 24, 1993.

I, Earl Ruby, the brother of Jack Ruby shot this gun for the first time on November 24, 1993 in Delray Beach, Florida, in commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Lee Harvey Oswald. One bullet from this famous gun changed the course of history on November 24, 1963. Thousands of Americans believe that Jack Ruby was a hero on that day. However, Jack became a victim of his own actions when Oswald's dramatic death locked the door to the truth surrounding President Kennedy's assassination. This one bullet that silenced Lee Harvey Oswald started the beginning of the industry of conspiracy which lives on to this day.”
