Description

Four thick manuals associated with the development and manufacture of the Apollo Guidance Computer and components of the Apollo spacecraft guidance and navigation system, including:

- an unclassified Raytheon Company document entitled "Apollo Guidance Computer Information Series, Issue 30, Block II Apollo Guidance Computer Subsystem, FR-2-130," August 31, 1965, documenting various computer subsystems, with sections on operations and instructions. The introduction explains: "This issue is an over-all description of the Block II Autographic condition: subsystems used in the Command Modules (CM's) and the Lunar Excursion Modules (LEM's)…A Block II AGC subsystem used in a CM consists of one Apollo guidance computer and two identical Display and Keyboards (DSKY's)…A Block II AGC subsystem used in a LEM consists of one AGC and only one DSKY." The document is well-illustrated with diagrams, schematics, and tables.

- an AC Electronics manual entitled "C/M PGNCS, Functions and Operations, Level II, Familiarization Course F2100 Supplement," November 1967, containing extensive material pertaining to the Apollo primary guidance, navigation, and control system (PGNCS), with numerous computer logic flow charts, fold-out diagrams, and documentation of the "Apollo Computer Logic Checklist Interface."

- an AC Spark Plug "Gyro Familiarization Manual: Handbook of Theory and Manufacturing Procedures for AC Spark Plug Gyros," September 30, 1960, offering an outline of gyroscopic theory, gyro parts and assembly, testing, characteristics, and system applications. The Apollo Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), developed by the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory and built by the AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors, was a key part of the Apollo guidance, navigation and control system.

- an Apollo Guidance and Navigation "Work Copy" entitled "Preliminary E-1230 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) Alignment Tests," February 18, 1963, documenting and defining said tests, Pulsed Integrating Pendulous Accelerometer (PIPA) alignment theory, Inertial Reference Integrating Gyroscope (IRIG) alignment theory, and job description cards for PIPA and IRIG alignment tests.

In overall very good to fine condition, with general overall wear from use and various annotations.
