Six items: a TLS as president, signed “Jimmy,” one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, August 8, 1980, sent to longtime New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, in full: “Rosalynn and I look forward to reading your new book. Thank you for your kind inscription. Your authorship is as impressive as your statesmanship!”; a glossy 10 x 8 photo of Carter at the podium and a glossy 8 x 10 photo of President Carter waving from the airstair of Air Force One, both signed in black felt tip, “J. Carter”; two 1976 presidential campaign brochures for Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale, both 4 x 9, both signed in black felt tip, “J. Carter”; and an ANS signed “Jimmy C.,” penned in black ballpoint at the bottom of a 2009 letter from a collector asking whether characters in his book The Hornet’s Nest are based on real people. Carter’s handwritten response: “To Tim: Several of the characters are based on my ancestors and their actual experiences.” In overall very good to fine condition, with heavy staining to the White House letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the ANS, which bears Carter's facsimile franking signature, and by four certificates of authenticity from JSA for the photos and brochures.
