(Walt Disney Studios, 1955) Superb original panoramic concept painting by Eyvind Earle for Lady and the Tramp, depicting the two dogs walking down a sidewalk in Lady’s wealthy neighborhood. Earle captures the scene deftly, training your attention to the two title pooches, whose smallness is exaggerated by the grandiosity of the detailed surroundings—three stunning 'painted lady' Victorian homes, each bordered by immense trees below a dusk blue sky; this beautifully realized moment begins Lady and Tramp’s wonderful date that culminates in the romantic 'Bella Notte' sequence. Accomplished in tempera on 15 x 6 artist's board, signed in the lower right corner in white paint, "Eyvind Earle." In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. Disney artist Eyvind Earle, who later became Sleeping Beauty's production designer, created almost 50 miniature concept sketches for the 'Bella Notte' sequence and was a key contributor to the classic film. A simply brilliant original piece of Disney art.
