Impressive official satin-finish 38 x 25.5 photographic preliminary map of the “Apollo 16, Descartes Landing Site,” scale 1:25,000, with an overhead view of the landing site featuring topographical contour lines in meters for elevation of various landmarks; an image created from photographs taken during the Apollo 14 mission, compiled from Mag. 69 in July 1971. Published by the Department of the Interior, United States Geological Survey, and prepared in cooperation with NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center. Rolled and in fine condition, with scattered stains in the left border, and the upper corners bear binder holes.
Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Rosemary D. Roosa, the daughter of Apollo 14 CMP Stuart A. Roosa, who served as the backup CMP for the Apollo 16 mission and from whose collection this photo map derives.
