Description

Apollo Saturn V Instrument Unit Measuring Rack Assembly, measuring 9.5″ x 6″ x 13″, with the front bearing a Marshall Space Flight Center parts label that reads: “Measuring Rack Assembly, Pt. No. 50Z12272-055, Ser. No. 4184, Wt. 20.06, Mfd. By IBM Huntsville, Cont. No. NAS8-14000, MEAS 602A402.” The rear of the unit features a total of five ports. In fine condition, with scattered scuffs and marks.

The primary function of the Measuring Rack Assembly was to house and manage the various electronic components and systems that were responsible for measuring and controlling the rocket's orientation, trajectory, and other critical parameters during its flight. This assembly was essential for ensuring that the rocket followed its intended path with precision, from liftoff to various stages of flight and, in the case of the Apollo missions, the injection of the spacecraft onto its trajectory to the Moon.
