(Walt Disney Studios, 1950) Marvelous original panoramic concept painting by Mary Blair for Cinderella, showing the coach riding through town en route to the castle for the royal ball. Gorgeously executed in hues of blue, black, and purple, the well-balanced composition has all the characteristics of Blair's masterpieces, with stylishly simplified forms and excellent use of light—the moon and stars illuminate the stunning night scene. Accomplished in tempera on 19.25 x 9 artist's board. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. A spectacular example of Mary Blair's original artwork for a Disney classic.
Mary Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World), and her largest work ever, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
