Uncommon flagpole finial from the opening ceremonies of the Stockholm 1956 Summer Olympics equestrian events, measuring approximately 4″ x 8.25″, featuring a cut-out of the emblem of the Equestrian Games, displaying a horse and rider surmounting the Olympic rings. Due to Australian agricultural quarantine regulations, the equestrian events of Melbourne's 1956 Summer Olympics were held five months earlier in Stockholm, Sweden. An image of such a flagpole in use is seen on page 71 of the Official Report.
