Scarce set of three items related to the historic Apollo 11 mission:
Three small swatches of Kapton foil attested to as being removed from the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia's thermal protection subsystem. The swatches, measuring .75″ x .5″ together, are affixed to an 8.5 x 11 informational presentation sheet hand-signed by Ken Havekotte, stating that it was removed after splashdown by O. W. Nasse, who was assigned to the Apollo 11 post-landing and safety recovery team.
An Apollo 11 Manned Flight Awareness medal, 1.25″ diameter, with the reverse stating that it “contains metal from spacecrafts Columbia and Eagle, that took astronauts Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins on their historic Apollo 11 mission that resulted in the first landing of man on the Moon.” Accompanied by an unissued “Certificate of Participation” from Kennedy Space Center and a Manned Flight Awareness certificate presenting the medallion to Ann C. Kuchta, both bear printed signatures of KSC director Kurt H. Debus.
A two-sided 8.5 x 11 page attested to as being removed from the official NASA manual ‘Launch Vehicle Operations for Support of Space Vehicle Countdown Demonstration Test and Launch Countdown,” which was personally used by Norm Carlson as the lead LV test conductor during the final phase of the Apollo 11 countdown and launch. Carlson used a green felt tip pen to underscore a total of 25 “CLTC” commands to either side of the page. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity from aerospace memorabilia specialist Ken Havekotte. In overall fine condition.
