Original issue of the Columbian Centinel and Massachusetts Federalist, four pages, 12 x 19.25, January 18, 1800. Much of the front page is dedicated to coverage of funeral events honoring the late George Washington, beginning under the heading: "Continuation of Minutes, of Funereal Solemnities in honor of the Sainted Washington." The columns cover tributes held at Ipswich, Billerica, Weston, Lynn, and Chelsea, as well as related statements made by the state legislatures of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and in the United States Congress. On the second page are brief memorials by John Adams and Martha Washington. In good to very good condition, with a section of the last page missing (not affecting the Washington content), partial separations to the fold at spine, and overall mottled toning.
