Description

Four uncommon books signed by Elmore Leonard:

A late-stage galley proof of the first edition of Rum Punch, published by Delacorte Press in 1992, softcover with plain salmon wrappers, signed and inscribed on the half-title page in black ink, “To the unknown man No. 89, Elmore Leonard,” which an amusing reference to his 1977 crime novel of the same name. Rum Punch was adapted into the 1997 film Jackie Brown by director Quentin Tarantino.

An uncorrected galley proof of the first edition of Get Shorty, published by Delacorte Press in 1990, softcover with plain black-and-white wrappers, signed on the title page in black ink, “Elmore Leonard, 8-3-90.” Get Shorty was adapted into a popular 1995 film of the same name that starred John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo, Delroy Lindo, James Gandolfini, Dennis Farina, and Danny DeVito.

An uncorrected bound galley of the first edition of Killshot, published by Arbor House / William Morrow in 1989, softcover with plain yellow wrappers, signed on the title page in black ink by Leonard.

An uncorrected proof of the first edition of La Brava, published by Arbor House in 1983, softcover with plain orange wrappers, signed and inscribed on the title page in black ink by Leonard to Marilyn Stassio, the longtime mystery editor of the New York Times Book Review. Includes the book’s uncommon proof dust jacket, which bears some edgewear. LaBrava won the 1984 Edgar Award for Best Novel and was even picked up by Martin Scorsese for a film adaptation that ultimately never came to fruition. In overall fine condition, with edgewear and creasing to the oddly oversized LaBrava dust jacket.
