Space Shuttle-era sterling ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ lapel pin, approximately .5″ tall and stamped on the reverse with “R” and “Ster,” with raised text below, “United Features Syndicate.” Retains its original clutch back. The pin includes its original color 11 x 14 NASA Manned Flight Awareness certificate presented to GSA employee Sherman ‘Wimpy’ Holloway for his “professionalism, dedication, and outstanding support that greatly enhanced flight safety and mission success during the Space Shuttle, Space Transportation System Program.” The certificate is signed below in black felt tip by astronaut Bill Shepherd, who adds the date of October 23, 1987. In fine condition, with the pin spike bent, and a puncture to top of certificate where the pin was previously attached.
Accompanied by three official NASA photos, two of which are individually signed and inscribed to “Wimpy” by Mercury and Gemini astronaut Gordon Cooper and Kennedy Space Center Director Forrest McCartney, and the third depicts Shepard presenting the certificate to Holloway.
