American flag and crew patch flown into low Earth orbit during the STS-29 mission, both of which are affixed to a 10.75 x 13.75 certificate presented to “Ray S. Jameson, In recognition of your contribution in achieving the commencement of the operational phase of the Space Network. The certificate, which bears an affixed patch for the TDRS-4 satellite and printed signatures of Eugene Ferrick and Robert O. Aller, also reads: “This flag and STS mission patch were flown aboard the Discovery STS-29 mission that carried TDRS-4 into orbit on March 13, 1989.” Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 17.5 x 20.5. In very fine condition.

Space Network is a NASA program that combines space and ground elements to support spacecraft communications in Earth vicinity. The SN Project Office at Goddard Space Flight Center manages the SN, which consists of the geosynchronous Tracking and Data Relay Satellites, supporting ground terminal systems, the Bilateration Ranging and Transponder System, Merritt Island Launch Annex relay, and Network Control Center Data System. TDRS-4 was an American communications satellite that was operated by NASA as part of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System from 1989 until 2011.
