Description

Influential American comedian, actor, and writer (1919-1962) whose improvisational humor and sense of visual style made him one of the most distinctive personalities in the early days of television. Interesting archive of material affiliated with Ernie Kovacs, including: two original Emmy Award nomination plaques, 9 x 11, presented to "Ernie Kovacs Show in Recognition of Nomination for the Best New Program Series for the Year 1956" and to "Ernie Kovacs in Recognition of Nomination for the Best Continuin Performance By a Comedian in a Series, Ernie Kovacs Show, for the Year 1956"; a personal check filled out in another hand and made payable to Kovacs for $600, September 26, 1960, signed on the front in blue ballpoint by Ernie Kovacs, and endorsed by him on the reverse; an original piece of artwork portraying Kovacs by Jacques Kapralik, a noted MGM caricaturist, done on an off-white 11 x 15.5 artist's board; a semi-glossy 9 x 11 portrait of Kovacs with his trademark cigar in his mouth; a humorous matte-finish 9.25 x 7.5 photo of Kovacs dressed in a leopard-print jacket; and a framed TV guide cover. In overall fine condition.
