Leather-bound hardcover with impressive gilt embellishments to the covers and spine, 10 x 12.75, 138 pages, concluding with a foldout of “Queen Victoria’s Descendants.” Handsomely illustrated with 21 photogravures. Book condition: VG/None, with edgewear, sunning to spine, a tear to the frontispiece's tissue guard, and light foxing to a few pages.
Leaves from the Journal of Our Life in the Highlands, from 1848 to 1861, edited by Arthur Helps. First illustrated edition. London: Smith, Elder, and Co., 1868. Original quarto hardcover, red cloth with gilt textblock and richly detailed embossed designs and titling to the covers and spine, 10 x 12.5, 198 pages, featuring a wide array of steel engravings, chromo-lithographs, and vignettes. Book condition: VG/None, with edgewear, soiling to title page, and small chips and splits at spine ends.
