Handsome invitation to the "Inaugural Reception & Promenade Concert" held at the National Museum in honor of the inauguration of President James A. Garfield and Vice President Chester A. Arthur on March 4, 1881, one page, 9.75 x 6, engraved by the Homer Lee Bank Note Co. The invitation boasts portraits of Garfield, Arthur, and George Washington, along with an image of the U.S. Capitol and patriotic design motifs. Period inked name “W. B. Wilcox” in lower right. In fine condition, with old mounting residue on the back.
