Description

A thin 2″ x .75″ sliver of yellow pine wood that was salvaged from the Atlantic Ocean after the sinking of the Titanic by the cable ship Minia, which was contracted by the White Star Line Company to search and recover bodies. Aboard the Minia was carpenter William J. Parker, who, from the various wreckage he pulled from the sea, crafted a liquor cabinet from the Titanic’s wheelhouse door and from other salvaged wood pieces. This particular section of wood derives from a shelf inside the cabinet; made of yellow pine, the shelf wood is believed to derive from the very deck of the Titanic. Matted and framed with a portrait of the Titanic to an overall size of 9 x 11. In fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of a condition and information report for the liquor cabinet from Titanic-The Exhibition, stating the cabinet was made by Parker, a message post from noted Titanic expert Steve Santini, a previous owner of the cabinet, and a certificate of authenticity from Kevin Saucier.
