Gavel constructed of wood removed from the White House during the Truman administration's renovations in 1950, measuring 11″ long with a cylindrical 3.5″ x 2″ head, with an inlaid metal plaque featuring a raised presidential seal in the center, reading: "Original White House Material Removed in 1950." In fine condition. This is a particularly refined example of a White House relic gavel, featuring a more ornate handle than often seen. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Report of the Commission of the Renovation of the Executive Mansion, published in 1952, which depicts the gavel as one of the renovation's souvenirs on page 81.
