Graded by SGC VG-EX+ 4.5. A classic example of the 'king' of the 1973 Topps set, featuring a trio of the National League's rookie third basemen—Mike Schmidt of the Philadelphia Phillies, Ron Cey of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and John Hilton of the San Diego Padres.
After struggling at the plate in his rookie season, Mike Schmidt emerged the following year as one of baseball's best all-around third basemen: over the course of his Hall of Fame career, he hit 548 home runs, won three NL MVP awards, made twelve All-Star teams, and earned ten Gold Gloves. Ron Cey also had an excellent career, making six All-Star squads and leading the Dodgers to victory in the 1981 World Series, taking home WS MVP honors. The lesser-known John Hilton fizzled out after four big league seasons, but went on to put up solid numbers for a few years in Japan. A great rookie card featuring two of the NL's most dominant third basemen of the era.
