Uncommon pairing of orange “Apollo 12, Arrival Ceremony” passes, 5 x 4, both marked below, “Please Enter Through Makalapa Gate Only.” Included with the card is an invitation to the arrival ceremony issued by “The Commander, Hawaiian Sea Frontier.” In fine condition, with some corner staining to the two passes. These passes were presented to VIPs, the press, and other officials who wished to attend the reception of the Apollo 12 crew, who had splashed down in the South Pacific Ocean on November 24, 1969, and embarked on a nearly 5,000 mile sea voyage to the Pearl Harbor US Naval Base on the recovery ship the USS Hornet. The crew, who remained in the Mobile Quarantine Facility, stayed in Hawaii for a short period before being flown to Ellington Air Force Base near Houston on November 29th.
