Four official Rawlings Major League (Selig) baseballs, each signed on the sweet spot in blue ballpoint: "Don Mattingly, 10th Yankee Captain," "Ron Guidry, Cy Young 78," "Graig Nettles, 7th Yankee Capt.," and "Johnny Blanchard, 5 Pennant Winners, 1960-61-62-63-64." On the side panels, Blanchard writes at length: "I was very proud to be a teammate of Mickey Mantles & Roger Maris," "10 World Series Pinch Hit Appearances, World Series Record," "One of six Yankee hitters to hit 21 or more homers in 1961," and "I was team captain of all Yankee scrubs." Though Blanchard was never an official team captain, his self-proclaimed status has earned him a place in this lot. In overall fine to very fine condition.
