Four relics or artifacts from three important American naval vessels, including two from USS Constitution:
First, a nicely cast brass belt buckle, centered with a copper penny-sized medallion with anchor, set into a white oak disk, crafted with materials from Old Ironsides, as the accompanying certificate from the USS Constitution Museum attests.
Second, a small Lucite block displaying a 1″ fragment of wood from the USS Constitution.
Third, a 1.5″ medallion minted with copper from the USS Constellation's copper, featuring the ship on one side with a reverse inscription reading: "This coin struck from parts of the Frigate Constellation, the first ship of the U.S. Navy." Though Old Ironsides is better known, the Constellation was actually the U.S. Navy’s first ship, berthed in Baltimore’s harbor.
Finally, a silver-plated demitasse spoon representing the USS Maine: its bowl reads "Battleship Maine Destroyed Feb. 15, 1898," and the handle confirms, "The metal in this spoon was recovered from the wreck of the Maine in Havana Harbor, Feb. 15, 98." In fine condition.
