(Walt Disney Studios, 1971) Original layout drawing and model cel of a sunken ship from the musical fantasy film Bedknobs and Broomsticks. The background, which depicts a large half-buried pirate ship at the bottom of the ocean floor, was accomplished in graphite and ink on untrimmed 15.5 x 12.5 animation paper by longtime Disney layout man Joe Hale; the sheet is marked in the lower right corner, "SC31, SEQ1, 0020, BG." The overlaying unpainted model cel consists of numerous bubbles and fish swimming in the foreground, and a print of the background is also included. In fine condition, with a few splotches of blue paint. Early production art for the animated sequences for Bedknobs and Broomsticks is considered rare. From the Joe Hale Collection.
