Appealing original color semi-glossy 8 x 10 behind-the-scenes photo of the wedding reception of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, held at Buckingham Palace on July 29, 1981, following the ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The photo was taken by English photographer Patrick Lichfield, whose peerage descent allowed him unparalleled access to the Royal Family. The image depicts Diana and Charles with Princes Andrew and Edward and the Royal wedding group: (front from left) Edward van Cutsem, Clementine Hambro, Catherine Cameron, India Hicks, Sarah-Jane Gaselee, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones, and Nicholas Windsor. The photo is affixed to the original 10 x 12 studio mount, with the reverse marked “A4” and bearing an affixed “Lichfield / 20 Aubrey Walk / London” label. In fine condition, with a bump to lower right corner of the mount. According to bridesmaid India Hicks: ‘Patrick Lichfield took the wedding photographs—a cousin-once-removed to the Queen, he was well practiced at being around the Royals and came armed with a whistle so he could keep the wedding party in line.’
