Remarkable display featuring five signed 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photographs of the leading Union and Confederate generals of the Civil War, including: a three-quarter length portrait of Ulysses S. Grant by Mathew Brady, signed in ink, "U. S. Grant, General"; a bust portrait of Robert E. Lee, prominently signed in ink, "R. E. Lee"; a three-quarter length portrait of George G. Meade by Mathew Brady, signed in ink, "Geo. G. Meade, Maj. Genl. U.S.A."; a portrait of William T. Sherman by Mathew Brady, signed on the reverse in ink, "W. T. Sherman, Lt. Genl., a very poor likeness, St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 25, 67" (beside an unsigned Brady portrait of Sherman, presumably the same image); and a bust portrait of P. G. T. Beauregard, signed in ink, "G. T. Beauregard, 1866." Matted and framed together to an overall size of 15 x 13. In overall good to fine condition.

Beauregard: very good to fine, with a couple of slight creases, and some red staining to the bottom.
