Description

(Walt Disney Studios, 1937) Remarkably detailed original 16-field concept layout drawing from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which depicts the dwarfs conversing in front of the diamond mine on how best to build a bed for Snow White. The central image of the dwarfs at the table is accomplished in graphite, with the surrounding forest and woodland creatures achieved in orange sepia-tone pencil, indicating that it would be hand-painted on glass for the multi-plane camera to move through. The drawing is on untrimmed 14.75 x 12 animation paper, with the total image measuring 13.25 x 10. In very good to fine condition, with a horizontal fold, some creasing and toning to edges, and pin holes to corners. The 'bed building' scene in Snow White was ultimately removed from the final version of the film as Walt Disney thought it detracted too much from the main good-vs-evil story arc between the Queen and Snow White. An extremely rare, one-of-a-kind, and gorgeously rendered 'lost scene' from Disney's first full-length animated feature film.
